Random Thoughts:
If you have “liked” me on Facebook you may have already saw this discussion yesterday, but I’m still a little irked… shocked… perturbed (that’s a good word) about it.
I decided we need a cat. I’ve had cats in the past, and I tend to prefer them because they are a little standoffish and have a “whatever” attitude. I dig that. Plus the lizards, geckos, and salamanders seem to be multiplying at my house and you all know I can not have that. A cat is the perfect solution.
I sent in an application to the Humane Society. I know there are an abundance of cats and you can get a free one pretty much anywhere, but I thought I would be responsible and help the agency out and maybe prevent an animal from going to the death chamber. I also wanted to be 100% sure that I got a female and that it had been spade. I want a cat, not kittens.
They denied my application. They called my vet for a reference and because I haven’t taken in the dog that we have not had for four years for shots, apparently, I am not a good pet owner. Nice.
I wanted to respond with, “FINE! I don’t want one of your stupid cats anyway. I’ll just get one for free! And I WON’T get it spayed or neutered and I WILL let it increase the surplus pet population!!” But I didn’t. I just said, “Um… Okay.”
I told David about what happened and he gave the universal sign for F’ them. I tend to agree.
Luckily my cousin has a cat about three months old that is female and she has been trying to find her a home. I’m picking her up on Saturday.
A Photo Just Because:
I know that I have told you guys what a great photographer my boss is, well here is proof. He took these photos on his recent trip to England (where he is from originally) (and yes he gave me permission to share them).
Pin of the Week:

With Halloween fast approaching (have you bought or made costumes yet?), Pinterest has a ton of cute Halloween ideas swirling around. I really like these cupcakes and they would be super simple to make. The were originally posted on Gourmet Live.
Stuff I Did This Week:
On Saturday I shared with y’all a new yummy snack from Fiber One. I’m giving away a gift pack from them and today is the last day so go check that out if you haven’t already. Tuesday I wrote the next post in my series about my Dad and I, The Split. Wednesday I shared a recap of Bloggy Boot Camp (with a really awesome graphic that you should go pin!), and yesterday I wrote thank you letters to the little things that help me make it through the week.
Some Great Stuff I Read:
This week instead of giving you links of what I’ve read I want to give you links of people you can help! None of these things will take a large sum of money, even $5 in some cases will do the trick, and I know that all the individuals involved will greatly appreciate anything you can do.
First up, Cady is selling magazines to raise money for our girl scout troop. The process is super easy. Just go to her site, pick out the magazines want, and purchase them online. You can also renew any subscriptions you currently have, or you can select to send them as a gift. I bought several that I think the kids will enjoy. This will help our troop with activities and service projects throughout the year.
Next, I’ve written about my friend Lizzie before. Lizzie was born with TAR syndrome and has undergone multiple surgeries since she was born. Lizzie is riding in the Save A Limb fundraiser and is trying to raise $3,000. Please help her meet her goal.
Lastly, my hilarious and awesome friend Jessica Bern currently has a Kickstarter campaign going with her partner Deb Anderson to raise money for their web series, Blog That. These ladies have been working on this project for awhile and have had some, let’s say, challenges. They are now in a position to do great things and I know they would love any help you can offer.

You are the best, for real, always and forever, AMEN.
And what the hell, Humane Society?
YOU GUYS are the best and so, so deserving.
Apparently they prefer to kill animals than adopt them out. Who knew?
I am glad you found a cat. I guess the humane society thinks a living animal without its shots is WAY worse than putting it down….
When I saw that first picture, before I even read the caption, I thought, “Hey! That looks like England!” Ha!
What part of England is your boss from?
London. They were over in August for a family member’s wedding. Normally they go around Christmas time. He asked what base you guys were stationed to.
I read you often but rarely comment but I had to laugh that you were turned down for a cat because we were too…I guess all us unfit cat parents should stick together! Maybe, just maybe they wouldn’t have so many cats to give away if they werent so crazy!
I’m glad it isn’t just me. I was starting to think there was something I was missing. My very, very pet friendly friend told me to lie on my application and make it glowing. I guess she was right.
Those photos ARE gorgeous. Of course now I just want to go to England.
I’m kind of bummed that they don’t look as great in the post as they did when he sent them to me (after I resized them for the internet). I think I’ll sneak and send you the link. I know you love a good photo.
I am already in love with Jessica and Deb.
I want to go to England so bad I can almost taste it.
How long does the magazine sale run?
The Humane Society…folk ain’t right. We are finished with them after the last time. If they approve you, they might give you a sick cat. Saying.
The magazine sale runs through next week.
England is amazing. I went for work one time, but was only there for a couple of days. I would LOVE to go back.
If you ever get the chance to meet Jessica in person, take it. I’m sure it is the same with Deb, but I LOVE me some Jessica Bern. For real.
