A day in the life of a working mom…

Through photos. Mostly.

Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a is like? Or maybe just a day in my life? Here you go:

The alarm sounds at 5:10am…

I drop off the kids and head to the office…

Where I spend the entire day doing pretty much this…

Unless I need to run errands at lunch. Oh look, rain just in time for me to head to Target. Perfect.

Back at the office. Uh-oh, the hair is up. This shit just go real, yo! Or, my hair was getting on my nerves.

Off at 4:30pm and head home to do the mom/wife thing. After 5:00 is a complete whirlwind of activity between dinner, baths, homework, chores, playtime, laundry… You get the idea. Bedtime for the kids is at 8:00 with a story and lights out. But… what’s this?

David and James are watching Jack Link’s Sasquatch videos on YouTube at 9:30pm? Yeah. Pretty much every single night. Not the videos, but the Bud getting up a gazillion times. Darn that state mandated nap time at daycare.

I was in bed and dead to the world by 10:30. That’s a good bedtime for me. Normally it is later either because I’m busy or I can’t sleep. This week the busy can wait. I’m exhausted.

What does your week look like?

I’m linking up with Mama Kat for Writer’s Workshop because she is the bomb diggity.

I’m really just not cool enough to use slang.

Don’t forget to check out my two giveaways this week, $25 gift card to Canvas 4 Life and an 11×14 gallery wrapped canvas print from Easy Canvas Prints.

Comments

  1. It looks glamorous to me, and you are bomb-diggity. I actually almost used it this week and subbed in something much much less cool.

  2. I like your hair up like that. :)

I keep meaning to do a post of pics from a day in our life… maybe I’ll remember tomorrow…

  3. Oh if my big girls nap they are up all freaking night. It’s such a battle.

  4. Love the pics! I seriously didn’t do this one because then everyone would know how lame I am, sitting at this desk far too many hours every day!

  5. You have an interesting day–I’m surprised your little boy is up so late! I am usually in bed by 9:30 since I get up at 4:15 a.m.

  6. State mandated nap? I would love to do a day in the life spread, buuuut… I look way to tore up in the morning to take pics.

    • Yes. Daycare providers are required to provide a two hour “rest” or quiet period every day. Guess what happens when you turn out the lights ans ask kids to be quiet? They go to sleep whether they need/want to or not. It is very frustrating, but there is nothing I can do about it.

  7. I so wanted to do this, but my week has totally sucked and I forgot about it! UGH!

Love the pics and love a glimpse into your daily routine.

We have mandated nap time in MA too. For the older children they are required to sit on their mats for 20-30 minutes with books so that the children who need to sleep can get to sleep (my older two needed naps until they are in Kindergarten, my youngest not so much) after the 20-30 minutes the ones who aren’t asleep are given quiet activities or buddy time or games and puzzles at a table. It works out pretty well and is a good compromise.

  8. I liked this! :-)

  9. LOL at Bud being up and watching YouTube videos. You know what we do with Buster (who just lays in bed and can’t sleep)? We give him the iPad for a half an hour when he goes to bed. He can’t play games, but he can watched the loaded movies. It gives him enough time to just chill, ensuring that he lays there and remains calm. That has worked wonders on getting him to sleep earlier.

  10. Lol! Wow! It’s scary how my day exactly matches your day! Thanks for the chuckle!
