Random Thoughts:
I want to thank everyone that prayed and sent good thoughts for my aunt and just offered me support a couple of weeks ago. Words can not express how much I appreciate each and every one of you for being there for me.
My aunt got her results on Tuesday, and just in case you didn’t see on Facebook or Twitter or hear me shouting it from the rooftops, SHE DOES NOT HAVE CANCER!!!!! I could not be more thrilled.
So what was the diagnosis? Degenerative Disk Disease. Which is actually something we knew she already had, but did not realize that it could cause an actual fracture. My grandmother, both aunts, my uncle, my mom, and I all have it as well. It sucks and it is painful, BUT it isn’t cancer. And I will take the pain of this every single day of the week over a cancer diagnosis.
Blog Business:
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but over there ——> in the sidebar I have a new section called “Here’s the Deal.” All of those links are affiliate links. That means if you click on them I earn a few pennies. Or if you use them. I don’t know. Somehow I can make pennies from them, but I’m not exactly sure how. Anyway… that’s beside the point. I put them there because I think they could be helpful. I plan to update them once a week. They will all be things that I think are a good deal and apply at the time. Like right now it is “back to school” season so I will try to post links that will help with that. You aren’t obligated to click on them or anything. I just wanted you to know in case you were wondering.
A Video Just Because:
Cady is still doing her swimming lessons, and y’all, she is doing so, so well. I’m so proud of her. This week she jumped off the diving board (with the noodle) and then swam the length of the pool. She has come so far, and I know it won’t be long before that noodle will be stashed away and she’ll be doing it on her own.
Stuff I Did This Week:
Tuesday morning I woke up and made the decision to be happy. It paid off. Wednesday I told you about James and his new discovery. Parenting is so much fun. Yesterday I brought back an old post about raising strong daughters. I hope for y’all to see more on that subject in the future.
Some Great Stuff I Read:
- This post about naming children was HI-larious. Go to the potty before you read it so that you don’t wet your pants.
- Cecily knocks it out of the park again with an easy tutorial for creating a media kit.
- And Fadra rocked this post written to sponsors concerning bloggers that don’t speak for her. Or me. Or for most of us.
I hope y’all have a great weekend and join me again next week!
Oh yeah, and I’ll have a giveaway up tomorrow so be sure to check that out.

So happy to hear about your Aunt. I wasn’t on the computer as much this week.
Also, so happy to see Cady still in the pool. I loved that photo you posted to Instagram. You are a great momma for helping her stick with it and not push it!
Have a great weekend!!!
I’m so, so happy about my aunt. I think thrilled is not a strong enough word.
Those links for Cecily and Fadra are fantastic.
Just so you know, I will be sitting home jealous.
Cecily and Fadra are both so, so smart when it comes to blogging and social media. I try to soak up everything Cecily writes. I’m going to make it a point to say hello to her this year at BlogHer.
Oh my gosh, it is SO good that I peed right before I read that name post. SO funny. And unfortunately, quite true!
One of my good friends has a relative that’s a teacher so every year before school starts she sends me a list of the craziest names for the year. So far the worst has been La-a, pronounced ‘la-dash-a.’ For real.
Such great news about your aunt!!
I know. I was “jumping up and down, do a little dance” excited.
