Project 365, Week 27

project 365

I’m moving the kids to a shared bedroom and this was an in process photo. I’m almost finished and I’ll be sharing the whole process when I’m done. (I swear the blue is not that bright.)

project 365

Monday night I got some pretty nasty news so I drowned my sorrows in cake. Isn’t that what everyone does?

project 365

Tuesday James wrapped up his swimming lessons. It’s a shame he is afraid of the water.

project 365

The fireworks at our house on Wednesday involved the fact that Home Depot is a liar with their “our paint is so awesome it has the primer built right in” commercials. Jerks. That will be the last time I ever go with a brand besides Sherwin Williams.

Thursday Cady and James were looking at old photo books together. I love that kids like the stories from their pasts. So cool.

Friday my little ham was hammin’ it up for the camera.

project 365

Saturday I decided to break from the monthly dinner menu and take the kids out to a “res’a-rahn” as James calls it. We went with the molten chocolate cake for dessert. I’m thinking it was a hit.

Also on Saturday I went for a massage. It has been a LONG time since I’ve had one and my back was completely knotted up. I felt sorry for the poor girl trying to get all the knots out, but then Sunday I felt sorry for myself. She had to press so hard and dig so deep that my back is a complete mess. Frankly I’m shocked that I don’t have bruises everywhere. I cringe anytime anyone touches it. I’m going to try to go back sooner this time so that hopefully I won’t have to go through this again.

That’s pretty much it for me for the week. What’s been goin’ on with y’all?

Comments

  1. I love the moments you captured here and I swear I can smell the chocolate in both the cake photo and the crumbs of a cake photo! Also, I am sorry that I missed your post last week. We lost our power and internet for several days. xo!

    • That cake is so good. Click the link for the recipe. And it doesn’t make a HUGE cake so that’s good too.

      Glad your power is back.

  2. Cake. Or cereal or cookies… or mayonnaise.

    Gotcha.

    • Mayo? Seriously? Just ew. (I’m more of a mustard girl myself.)

      • Yeah. Mustard’s great, but when I’ve been really stressed, I have been known to take a little extra mayo. Disgusting, but a good signal to myself to see what’s eating me.

        • If I need something “mayo-y” I’m going for Miracle Whip every time.

Funny story, my stepmother hates mayo, Miracle Whip, all of that kind of stuff. She used to stay with her aunt sometimes in the summer and she would put mustard in her tuna. Of course tuna was the only thing she would eat mayo in because mustard in tuna is disgusting. Obviously.

  3. Regular massages would be a dream come true for me! They make me feel fantastic!

  4. First of all I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Many thanks!

    • I don’t always center myself. Sometimes I just start writing to get all of the stuff out of the way and then sort it out when I’m done. That’s what writing does for me.

  5. Is that Texas sheet cake in the first photo? If so, that’s one of my favorite desserts!

We had a bad experience with Behr paint from Home Depot. It was red, and did that exact same thing. We ended up hiring a painter and he used Sherwin Williams.

    • It is Texas sheet cake, but it was about a half recipe and I made it in my iron skillet. It was perfect.

I originally painted my whole house with Sherwin Williams paint. I should have known better. Live and learn I guess.

  6. Cake is the best thing for drowning sorrows.

Well, actually for me…I just do the cake icing. Nothing quite like a couple of spoonfuls of icing to melt the worries away.

Then I have something new to worry about. That icing that has now turned to inches on my hips.

    It’s a no-win situation, huh?

  7. Yeah- we only buy Benjamin Moore paint (same quality as Sherwin Williams). We have a small red accent wall that we painted with Behr from Home Depot and it took an entire gallon to make that one small wall any color other than pink. As for massage- the last one I had was a pregnancy massage when I was pregnant with Zoe. She is about to turn 5.
