Cady has loved princesses for as long as I can remember. When she was two years old she found some princess dolls I had bought on clearance and was holding until she was old enough. She decided she was “old enough” the minute she spotted them on the top shelf of the closet.
The minute I saw the Pony Royale ponies I knew she would love them. Frilly “outfits,” interchangeable hair, jewels… all of that would have been enough, but when she realized the one she was sent shared a birthday month with her she was head over heels.
There are 12 ponies in all and each one is assigned to a month and has a corresponding birth stone jewel embedded in her forehead. Ponies are also grouped by element, Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air. Cady thought that was pretty cool.
The ponies also came with a map that identified the different kingdoms. The kids LOVED the map (and fought over it). They used it to plan different adventures for their ponies. I like the fact that they gave them an additional material for their imaginative play.
The other thing Cady liked was that there is a website devoted to the ponies, Pony Royale World. Since she got a laptop for Christmas she loves checking out the websites for her favorite toys. She liked the website, but she’s hoping that they add more games and activities in the future.
The website also has an area for parents that discusses the value and developmental benefits of play. There are a couple of videos for parents on the site as well.
That was all as I expected. The thing that surprised was that when I opened the box James wanted a pony too. Both kids spent the rest of the night playing with their ponies, changing out the hair (actually I think the hair in all of these photos is from James’ pony), trading outfits, and begging to take them into the bathtub, which all moms know is the sign of true love.
For more information you can check out this video:
Pony Royale will be available exclusively at Toys R Us at the end of the month and is for children three and up.
Visit the Pony Royale website for more information. Look for Princess Ponies in stores starting late July! Meanwhile, be sure to check out Pony Royale’s Facebook page and follow them on Twitter!

I was just going to say, “Too bad I don’t have any girls” when you said that James wanted one of his own. When I think about it, I bet Buster would like them too.
He just took all of the frilly stuff off of it, and made the crown ride on the butt. LOL
Love those storytelling toys. My girls loved all the sparkly girl stuff too.
Our whole house would be covered in glitter if it were up to her.
Oh I think my daughter would love those. And what a great well rounded review!!
Thanks. I try to be really honest when I post a review.
Perfect for birthday gifts for K this October! Thanks!
Oh yes. I’m sure she would love them.
Well, it’s hard to say the pony is cute with that sweet, sweet Cady in the pic!!
She totally outshines it! =)
She is pretty darn cute.
Love those first two photos of your daughter. What a great expression on her face!
She always has some expression on her face.
I love that James loved that ponies as well.
And I think the map is probably the most genuis part of the whole toy.
The map was great until one of them got torn and then they fought over the other one.
We LOVE ponies here!
Oh the sweetness and cuteness and then more sweetness! Love!
