It starts as a tickle…
“What’s that… is that a tickle? In my throat? Nah. Can’t be. I don’t have time to be sick. I just need a drink of water.”
{gets drink}
“There. That’s better.”
…………….
*ahem*
*ah.ah.ahem*
*ah.ah.ah.ahhhheeemmm.*
{gets drink}
“There. All better.”
…………….
“Man I sure am tired today. I must not have got any sleep last night. Ha. That’s funny. I never get any sleep… but why is my body so achy today? I must have slept funny.”
…………….
“Hmmmm… that tickle is back. Boy is it stubborn. Is my throat hurting? Nah. My throat can’t hurt. I have to go to work and do the kids’ valentines and there are about four loads of laundry to do and the dishwasher needs to be loaded. Nope. No sick for me. I’ll just take some motrin, drink some water, and then I’ll feel better.”
{takes motrin, drinks water}
“Ahhh…. that’s better.”
…………….
A few hours later…
“Mother fucker. I’m sick. I can’t be sick. I don’t have time to be sick. I guess I better go to the doctor.”
And yes, believe it or not I went. As soon as I started getting sick instead of waiting. I’m so glad I did because when I got there someone in the room next to me sounded like they were hacking up a lung. I mentioned to the doctor that I was glad I came in before I got that bad, and he replied “Me too Jennifer.” (Picture him saying this in an adorable Spanich accent because he’s from Mexico and speaks in an an adorable Spanish accent. Obviously.)
“Please don’t ever wait Jennifer. You will be in the ER with pneumonia and we will both lose sleep. Let’s not lose sleep Jennifer.”
I’m all for that. I got a shot in my booty and loaded up with prescriptions. Hopefully this momma won’t be sick for very long.

There ARE no days off. Luckily both of mine can be taken to school so I can rest during the day. Thank goodness.

Get well soon!! I am a procrastinator extraordinare, so I applaud you heading to the doc stat.
Normally I am too, but he always gets frustrated with me when I wait. Plus it ends up developing into something a lot harder to rid of.

I’m always waiting until deaths door before I go to the doctor type of girl myself. Makes my husband insane. But really…who has time to go to the doctor? Not me. Feel better lady.
I normally do that too, but it always develops into something a lot harder to get well from. This time I’m hoping to kick it fast.

I want a doc with an adorable Spanish accent! My neurosurgeon’s pretty hot, but the simple fact of needing to see a neurosurgeon kind of negates the hotness.
Yeah, needing a neurosurgeon kind of sucks. This is just my regular GP.

Feel better soon. I get pissy when I am sick- because when DJ is sick, he gets to come home from work and go to bed while I take care of everything. When I am sick- I still have to take care of everything. I never get to just go to bed.

David never takes off when he is sick. It drives me nuts. He just gets worse and worse. Guess who I caught this from?

“Let’s not lose sleep, Jennifer. ” That totally made me smile, as I said it in my head with an accent. (My head is the only place I can do accents, by the way.) Hope you’re feeling better quickly.

He totally meant that too.

I’m the world’s worst about putting off a visit to the doc.
Last time I did that, that tickle crap made itself at home here.
FOR 3 WEEKS.
I’ll not make that mistake again.

That’s the problem. I normally put it off until I’m bedridden for a week. I’m trying to avoid that.
I loved this. Not because you were sick, but because it fly like you were in my head!
I hope you are feeling better.
I’m pretty sure this is how it works for all of us.
Oh no! Poor thing! I hope you feel better soon!
(And oh my, yes- we never have time be sick, do we?)
I’m feeling much better today and I’m back at work.
Oh boy do I know about all the things that got neglected in the last couple of days because I got sick too! (stomach bug sick, THE worst). Anyway, hope you’re feeling better. Those shots usually work pretty well!
The shot worked. Let’s not talk about what my house looks like.
Perfectly described. Funny to me, I think the times I ignore it, it’s because somehow I can feel that this is a big one; and the times I medicate in the first minute because I just can, nothing happens. Maybe I am imagining it.

I usually let it knock me all the way down.
Perfectly described. Funny that there are other times, something comes on that I don’t think, “ignore it, ignore it, ignore it,” and it doesn’t knock me down. Maybe it’s my imagination?

A few months ago, I got so run down that I landed in bed for almost a week…my family had NO idea what to do! When mom goes down, the world goes down…that is why we fight it so hard.
This is one of the reasons I went as soon as I did. I knew that I would be down for the count if I didn’t get it taken care of. Let’s not mention what my house looks like after just two days.
Oh I hope you are feeling better now. I am at the point now that I should have gone to the dr a month ago. Blah. Going Wednesday though…woohoo! lol
