Today’s featured blogger is someone I’ve known, well, probably longer than either one of us would want to admit. Jennifer and I graduated from the same high school with her being just a year behind me. I was a drill teamer and she was a twirler and self-proclaimed band geek. She got married and moved as far away as possible (hello, Europe?!). Now her and her family reside in New Jersey where her husband is active military. She writes at Chaos Covered in Chocolate Covered Grins, and you should definitely get to know her better.
1. What is the best thing about being a military life?
I have experienced things I don’t believe I ever would have otherwise. I have lived in a foreign country and in a state that I would have never picked on my own to visit, let alone live. Both experiences were/are fabulous.
2. Other than family, what do you miss about your kids growing up in Texas the most?
When I was growing up, family was important. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents and aunts/uncles houses and playing with cousins. My cousins were like siblings and I have wonderful memories of those times. I hate that my kids barely know their grandparents or their cousins.
3. Where has been your favorite place to live?
Hands-down: England. We chose to live off-base because we believed in fully experiencing that assignment. I am a total nerd about history and I enjoyed so much actually seeing places where things I had read about in history happened. The most amazing moment to me came when we went to visit Dover castle. Most of the compound was built by Henry II but in the center of the compound stood the ruins of an Anglican church with a sign that said, “Circa 1000 AD”. And if that was humbling enough, next to that church stands the ruins of an old Roman lighthouse with a sign that says, “Circa 1 AD”. I stood there looking out over the English channel and off the cliff and just realized that lighthouse had been standing there for TWO THOUSAND years and suddenly I felt so completely humbled.
4. If you guys could get transferred anywhere where would you want to go and why?
Oh wow! I don’t know if there is one answer to that. I would LOVE to go back to England, but I would also like to see new places. Part of me wants to go to Japan but there is the Europe- loving part of me that would love to go back.
5. Favorite post from the last few months.
I have had a bit of writer’s block lately, so I don’t have a lot to choose from, but I think perhaps my favorite of them is going back to the fall when I got lost in a corn maze (BEFORE the family that made it on the news)- this makes me thinks that perhaps it is some sort of hazard that should be addressed.
Now let’s see if we can get someone featured next week!!! Here are the rules:
- Link up a favorite post you wrote this week.
- On the post you feature link back to my blog. Something like, “I’m sharing my awesome with Momma Made It Look Easy and you can too.” It can be in the tiniest print at the very bottom of your post. Or you can grab my “Share Your Awesome” button from the sidebar and use that.
- Link directly to your blog post and not your home page or a landing page. If you don’t know how to find the permalink just let me know and I’ll help you.
Next week I will randomly pick one participant (that hasn’t previously been featured) to feature on my blog. Please follow all of the rules. I will delete you if you don’t. And while it isn’t a requirement, it would be really great if you would check out some of the other blogs that link up, and also, comments are always great. The posts so far have been awesome and I’m sure they will be this week too.
Please share that you are linking up on Facebook and Twitter so that we will have plenty of people join in. I will try to share all of your posts.

Thanks for featuring Jennifer.
Friday. This is all the fun I get.
We need to find you a way to have more fun.
I don’t think I could do the military lifestyle, but I admire people who love it.
Corn mazes kind of freak me out!
I’m not sure I could do it either, but I thank God for the people that can.
I so admire, and am so grateful for military families!! While we live overseas, there’s an element (or two
) that they have in their lives that we don’t. So, thank you for serving!
Last year her husband was deployed. I don’t want to even imagine single parenting.
Yippee!!! I love Jennifer! I love when I open up your blog and find people that I love and adore. It’s like I am seeing them up on the stage for the Emmys or something
And as for her writer’s block…I have been in it too! I think it is just the end of January bringing us all down.
If anyone hasn’t read her blog yet, head over. She’s very funny! Also, if you see her posts with interviews with her son, Noah…read them! You’ll definitely find a giggle!
Aww.. thanks, Kristen! And thanks Jennifer for featuring me! This was my very first feature- YAY!
YAY for my first feature ever! I was so excited when I got the email that it was going to be me this week!
I would love to visit a family living in Europe. I dream of going someday, but want to go with people who are experienced travelers and know all the secrets. And thanks Jennifer for your family’s service and sacrifices.
I’ve been for work, but I would love to go back for fun.
I ♥ Jennifer. Love her blog, love the fantastic support she gives me. Fantastic, is what she is.
She’s awesome!
LOVE her. As I do so many of the so many you feature!
I have not even gotten to Jennifer’s blog yet and I already like her! We went to England for our honeymoon and I loved it! The historical aspects of it are amazing! Headed over to read more now!
SWEET! I met Jennifer a while back during a SITS blogging event. How fun to see her again!
