This week’s featured blogger is Jennifer from This Gal’s Journey. She is a working mom of three, and OMG, she lives in Ireland. You totally need to go check out her header. It is so beautiful. Let’s find out more about her.
1. Oh holy squeeee! You live in Ireland?! I’ve been looking at all of these photos on Pinterest. So, so beautiful. First let me ask, Do you think this image is real (Jodi and I were totally debating it so I had to find out)?
Do you live in the countryside or the city? What is awesome about living there? In like a paragraph.
Yes, that photo could definitely be real! I’ve stood in many places like that and it steals my breath every time! We live in a very rural area along the coast. There are so many amazing things about living here! It’s completely modern (Ireland is the world’s 2nd largest software exporter!), but at the same time can be very “old world” – and I mean that in a good way. Tradition is very important here, so people still harvest turf by hand, and it’s not uncommon to se a herd of cattle being herded down the main road! People are still most important, and most think nothing of canceling their current plans if someone shows up at their door unannounced. My children are experiencing so much more culture and different facets of life than I did. They are learning Irish (Gaelic) and the sense of community makes living away from our families so much easier.
2. I saw that you have two girls and one boy. How was it different going from girls to a boy?
Well, at first, the diapers were the biggest change! Since our son is only 9.5 months old, I’m sure more changes are coming, but so far the biggest difference is that he is so laid back. Even as a baby there’s much less drama than my daughters. Also, he’s so inherently masculine, whereas my daughters were super feminine. He’s automatically drawn to technological things, and if I speak to him sternly, he laughs (my daughters would cry). He’s a definite mommy’s boy and he adores his sisters above all others.
One word. Naked. Based on my two, boys like to be naked way more than girls.
3. I also saw that you are a working mom (like me). What do you do? Is it your dream job? If not, what would be?
We work in tourism. It is my dream job in a lot of ways! I get to live in Ireland, meet amazing people, and work from home. So, my husband and I are around each other and the kids instead just being together for an hour before everyone has to be in bed. But, my dream-dream job would be a professional singer. 🙂
4. Pimp yourself out, tell me about A Better Mom.
The Better Mom is a great site that just launched August 1st. The heart behind it is that all moms need a safe place to share, learn, grow and exchange ideas. There’s an incredible group of contributors. In fact, I felt really unworthy to be one once I read about the other contributors! The great thing is we are from all walks of life, all schools of thought. There’s homeschooling, public schooling, unschooling, moms of grown children, and even one who is expecting her first child, covering topics ranging from education, health/fitness, faith, pregnancy, marriage and more The common thread that ties us all together is the fact that we are all moms, and the faith we all share in God. I will have posts there once a month (perhaps more often at times) and you can check out my first post on August 21!
Since my blog is basically newborn, there’s not a whole load to choose from so far, which is good for this question. 🙂 My favorite post right now is definitely Superhero Sweet Dreams: A Mother’s Lullaby to Her Son. Being that our son is our last child, I’m keenly aware of how fleeting these days are, and this post is an overflow of emotion after putting him to bed one night.
I read that post and it was just so, so touching. If you didn’t read it last week when she linked it up you should totally go read it right now. Well after you link up for this week anyway. So who wants a chance to be featured next week? Here are the rules for linking up:
- Link up a favorite post you wrote this week.
- On the post you feature link back to my blog. Something like, “I’m sharing my awesome with Momma Made It Look Easy and you can too.” It can be in the tiniest print at the very bottom of your post. Or you can grab my “Share Your Awesome” button from the sidebar and use that.
- Link directly to your blog post and not your home page or a landing page. If you don’t know how to find the permalink just let me know and I’ll help you.
Next week I will randomly pick one participant to feature on my blog. Please follow all of the rules. I will delete you if you don’t. And while it isn’t a requirement, it would be really great if you would check out some of the other blogs that link up, and also, comments are always great. The posts so far have been awesome and I’m sure they will be this week too.
I will be at BlogHer today so while I will try to share links on Twitter and Facebook for everyone I don’t want to make any promises.
Please share the link up on Facebook and Twitter so that we will have plenty of people join in. I need at least five people that haven’t been previously featured to be able to select someone for next week.
