It’s the most busiest time of the year

October kicks off my busiest time of year. It is probably the same for a lot of you too. I think it has been even worse since school started. I can not imagine what it will be like when I have both kids in school. It just seems like we have something every weekend.

In October I’m getting Halloween costumes ready and getting ready for trick or treating and then this year we had a party. So October basically starts off crazy town.

After Halloween I start seriously thinking about Christmas shopping and getting ready for Thanksgiving. Throw in more stuff at school including volunteering to help with the Indian Pow-Wow. Plus last weekend we had a family day and this weekend we are taking my niece to the movies. And then for Thanksgiving I’ve invited everyone to come to our house so I’m cooking (hello grocery store this weekend).

Right after Thanksgiving is Baby Girl’s birthday so during all of this other stuff I’m also planning a birthday party. And then I got the crazy whim to take her and her best friend to see Beauty and the weekend after Thanksgiving (live, a Broadway production coming through town). I’m really excited about both things. Her party is totally coming together and I think it is going to be really cute. And I can’t wait until she sees a live play. Squeee!

And then of course we have Christmas. And Christmas parties. And visiting with all of the various relatives. And wrapping presents. And kids being super excited with seamless boundless energy. And Santa. And… a migraine with me hiding in the kitchen with a bowl of cookie dough and a large spoon.

So while I may not be burned out yet, I’m starting to smell the smoke.

PS If I don’t post every day until after the holidays are over you’ll have to excuse me.  At least I have a (lot of) good reason(s), right?

  3. I feel more and more stress as we get closer to the holidays. I try to block it out of my mind, but it's impossible. I'm not ready for Christmas at all.

  4. Oh my goodness, you DO sound busy!!! Happily, here in Canada, we have Thanksgiving before Halloween. It helps to space out all of these events.

Of course we all understand that blogging will take a backseat to living your life (as it should!), but I will miss you. I look forward to reading about you and your family!

  5. It's the most busiest time of the year!

    ;)

  6. Oh yes, I feel you, I hear you , I understand. I fear by the time things calm down it will be about a day before the baby is due and we will be thrown back into the crazy busy again!

  7. Same boat here, too. Complete with a December birthday for my oldest.

  8. This is probably weird…but I thrive on the busyness.

    yep. hear ya.
then after the new year, I have year end closing at work. good times. months seem to FLY by

  10. TheBabyMammaChronicles says:

    Busy, busy, good luck!

  11. You are excused from posting everyday. :) sniff, sniff. I DO smell that smoke! Slow down!

  12. Leslie Limon says:

You are one busy momma! But you are making some wonderful memories for your entire family. :)

  13. Whew, I got tired just reading all that! But you're so right…this is the busiest time of the year! And, don't you just HATE the grocery store the week before Thanksgiving. It's a mad house! Good luck over the next few weeks!

  14. We hit a point where we started putting Christmases in order of heinous-ness and arguing about which Christmas would be awarded the supreme tile of "THE Christmas from Hell".

One year my kids got so many large ride-on toys from their grandparents that our yard mower person asked if we were starting a daycare. And that was the year we asked them to buy less because we had to drive home 900 miles with all that $h!t in the car. ~sigh~

Then we just rebelled like crazy. Christmas is at home, we insisted. My MIL got so mad about that she refused to come (from three miles away) and went on a cruise. Best. Christmas. EVER.

This year our tree will be 100% home-made. Only a few presents. And lots of time for old-fashioned joy built-in. We're going to make all the garlands and ornaments ourselves!

The less we do, the less we buy, the less we travel… the happier Christmas is.

Why are you doing all that stuff?

This time of year is so hectic! It drives me crazy too because we should be focusing on the true meaning and celebrating the gifts of LIFE over busy schedules.

Once Halloween rolls around I feel like it's already May!

  17. JDaniel4's Mom says:

Stopping from SITS! I think this is why my husband and I are asleep by 10 on New Year's Eve. We are just exhausted.

  18. I knew in theory it would be worse when both kids were in school.. but I had no idea. It's effing crazy!

  19. It is insane this time of year! Like you, I have a child with a birthday right over Thanksgiving which does add to the craziness.

  20. It is a busy time, but it's also fun! I don't know if we're antisocial, but we never have that many parties to go to…. Hmm…. (BTW, thanks for your comment on my Scary Mommy post. It was hilarious!)

  21. Jana@AnAttitudeAdjustment says:

Maybe my family is antisocial, but we don't get invited to that many parties. Hmm. In the past, that meant we had them ourselves. But now, with kids? We haven't had a party in a while. (By the way, thanks for your comment on my Scary Mommy post. I cracked up about your children's healthy coats!)

  22. Try to take deep breaths and remember to enjoy the little moments, especially at your little girl's party and at her first show. Those are the things you will want to remember the most.
