I’ve had a few emails and comments asking me what I’m doing so I thought I would write a post about the plan I’m following. This is something that I came up with on my own with input from some stuff that I’ve done in the past and some stuff that my friends are doing.
I eat six small meals a day. Two of those meals are protein bars. I get the bars that are under 200 calories. My preference are the Kashi or Special K bars. My four other meals are divided out as follows:
1) Protein, starch and fruit
2) Dairy and fruit
3) Protein and vegetable
4) Protein, starch and vegetable.
I adjust when I eat the meals based on my schedule for that day. Like last night I ate meal no. 1 for dinner (dried beans, brown rice and strawberries) and meal no. 3 for breakfast (spinach omelet). I also pay close attention to the serving sizes, like four ounces for chicken breast and three ounces for lean beef. Examples of starches are a half a sweet potato or two slices of low calorie whole wheat bread. Dairy servings are a cup of low calorie yogurt or two light cheese sticks.
I really like this plan because I’m hypoglycemic and this never leaves me feeling weak or shaky because it is spread out through the day. Also, it gives me enough structure balanced with enough flexibility. Another thing I like is that it is teaching me how to eat appropriately. I can’t even believe the size of the portions I was eating before. Way bigger than what they were supposed to be.
So this is what I’m doing. What have you done that works for you?

I am amazed and inspired by your resolve. Good for you!! I really hope this works for you.
That's very cool. I like your plan. I am working on this as well. I have to wear a cute little dress for my sister's wedding in October and I don't feel cute or little
This week I have started only drinking water. A lot of water! And working out first thing in the morning. Watching my portions. Not eating at night. This morning I actually jogged a little…just short bursts…but I feel really good!
Good for you!!!

You are inspiring, that's for sure! Sounds like a great plan! Portion size is alarming once we start paying attention to it! It also is crazy to think about how much of life's celebrations &/or get-together's revolve around food! It is helpful to be prepared by eating first, drinking lots of water & even bringing some of your own snacks. Awareness is number #1. You are going to do wonderfully. Kudos!
I like reading your plan. I think I need to plan 6 small meals instead of just eating three small meals and snacking. That's not working too well for me because I am not managing the snacking.
After I had Noah, I did Weight Watchers. I was overweight and my cholesterol was high. It worked for me.. but the main thing about it was portion sizes. That really is everything. I actually weigh more than my starting WW weight now and my cholesterol is high again.. my dr yelled at me and wants to put me on meds, but I don't want them. So.. i'm gonna have to do something about it again (my dad, perfectly healthy weight, active, good cholesterol levels and good blood pressure- had a massive heart attack at age 50 and had to have 5 bypasses- that's why my dr is freaking the hell out)
Hey lady! You won that cute Juicy dress on my blog!
Good luck with The Plan, you know I love a new plan!
I have tried something very similar to this and it does work. It worked for me. If I would only start doing it again! I am hypoglycemic as well so eating often helps.
Congratulations! I'm impressed by your diligence, discipline and success! Keep going, girl! The results speak volumes!
